If you’re thinking about psychotherapy—whether for yourself, your child, or someone you support—I offer a confidential space to explore what might be helpful. Making the first contact can sometimes feel daunting, but I aim to respond with sensitivity and care.

I offer a free 30-minute telephone consultation to help us think together about what support you may need and whether I’m the right person to help. This is not a commitment to begin therapy, but a chance to ask questions and consider your options.

FAQs

  • Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a form of talking therapy that explores how past experiences, emotions, and relationships influence current thoughts and behaviours. It offers a deeper understanding of the inner world and aims to bring relief and long-lasting change by working through underlying difficulties.

  • I work with children, adolescents, young adults (up to age 26), university students, parents, and professionals. Each treatment is tailored to the individual or family’s needs, with sensitivity to developmental stage and emotional context.

  • The initial assessment is a 75-minute appointment that gives us a chance to explore your concerns, ask questions, and decide whether psychotherapy is the right step. It also helps determine the best treatment approach and whether short-term or longer-term therapy is appropriate.

  • Sessions are typically held once a week at the same time each week. In some cases, particularly with intensive psychotherapy or during certain phases of treatment, more frequent sessions may be recommended.

  • I work with a wide range of emotional and psychological issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, difficulties in relationships, identity concerns, attachment challenges, and emotional impacts of neurodiversity or chronic illness. Therapy can also support parents in understanding and strengthening their relationship with their child.

  • Yes. I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy for university and college students navigating stress, low mood, identity challenges, and life transitions. A student rate is available for those studying at Leeds universities and FE campuses.

  • Parent psychotherapy is offered without the child present and focuses on supporting parents and carers in understanding their child’s emotional world. It can help make sense of parenting struggles, relationship dynamics, and the impact of current stress or past experiences on the family.

  • Yes. I provide clinical supervision and consultation to qualified professionals and trainees, both individually and in groups. This includes reflective practice for those working in education, health, social care, and parent-infant services.

  • Fees vary depending on the type of session. Initial assessments are £85, standard sessions for children, young people, and parents are £65, and student sessions start at £55. A full breakdown of fees is available on the Fees page. Concessions may be available—please feel free to ask.
